In 2011 Ramy exploded into international fame as the real voice of the Egyptian revolution. His songs spread like wildfire among the demonstrators, and during the height of the uprising Ramy performed in front of millions of people in the Tahrir Square. His song Irhal, in which then Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak was urged to resign, gained great popularity among the demonstrators. It became internationally known through YouTube, and is referred to as the anthem of the revolution. In 2011, it was selected by Time Out as the third-most world-changing song of all time. |

A FUNDED 5-week summer school teaching position in Ramallah, West Bank, at a really nice International Baccalaureate Palestinian school. The program goes from June 24th-July 28th, and they need teachers to teach English to K-9th grade students (not in the same class, of course) and high school teachers to teach Model UN, research writing, and test prep and/or do college counseling for 10th-11th grade students. The school will pay up to $1,500 for flight reimbursement, will provide living accommodations, and will give you a $1,350 stipend for food, tours, etc. |

There are lesson plans, including “Who Benefits from Islamophobia: Investigating the Profit Motive behind Bigotry and Discrimination,” “Black Muslims in the United States: An Introductory Activity,” and “Whose Terrorism? Analyzing Stories of Individuals.” There are articles and other resources. And there are news articles about projects in different U.S. schools. |
